County Meet IMPORTANT INFORMATION & TIMELINE UPDATE

Hello Longhorn Parents & Athletes,

Thank you for your patience as this email has been delayed for several days. The Forsyth county coaches have been working through multiple weather-related scenarios with the county and host schools. We apologize for the delay in communication, but we wanted to ensure that the information shared was final and accurate before sending an update.

At this time, the decision has been made to move the Forsyth County Swim & Dive Championship to an all-day Friday schedule.

Please read the information below carefully, as this is now the confirmed plan.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP – FINAL SCHEDULE

Friday (All Events)

  • 8:00–9:00 AM: Swim Warm-Ups (assigned lanes/times)
  • 9:15 AM: Swimming Begins
  • Meet Format: TIMED FINALS ONLY
  • 1:00 PM: Senior Parade & Recognition
  • 2:00 PM: Dive Warm-Ups
  • 3:15 PM: Dive Competition
  • ~8:15 PM: Approximate Conclusion

Heat sheets, ticketing information, and volunteer sign-ups will be shared prior to the meet.

TRANSPORTATION & ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • There will be NO buses for this meet.
  • All swimmers and divers are required to provide their own transportation to and from the pool.
  • All athletes should arrive 30 minutes before their warmups.
  • The expectation is that ALL ATHLETES stay/return for Finals, even if they finish competing earlier in the day.
  • Any athlete who does not remain for Finals will NOT be considered for team captain and will NOT letter.

Please plan transportation accordingly. Any parents who can not drive their athletes are required to find a carpool. Please reach out to Coach Langley if you have trouble finding transportation.

ATHLETE EXPECTATIONS & TEAM CULTURE

County Championship is a reflection of who we are as a program.

All athletes are expected to:

  • Cheer consistently and enthusiastically for their teammates
  • Demonstrate excellent sportsmanship at all times
  • Congratulate competitors after every race, win or lose
  • Support our finalists, whether or not they personally advance to finals
  • Remember that this is a team, not an individual sport

I expect Lambert to demonstrate the best sportsmanship of any team in Forsyth County. How we support each other matters just as much as how we race.

SENIOR PARADE & RECOGNITION

We will continue our Senior Parade & Recognition, a special team tradition.

  • Seniors and their parents will march together around the pool.
  • Each senior will have a photo taken with their parents and coaches.
  • Seniors will finish the meet together with their senior swim wearing their senior caps and suits.
  • All senior parents are strongly encouraged to attend or plan to arrive in time for the parade. I know that with the time update to Friday this might be difficult with work schedules. Any parent who cannot make it should reach out and we will schedule a make-up parent senior photo session at the pool.

A sincere thank you to Monica Carlson, who has graciously agreed to serve as our photographer for this event.

Please note that while the date is finalized, timing within the day may still adjust slightly. Any changes will be communicated as soon as possible.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP SHIRTS

  • Championship shirts will be available for purchase on site through EAGLE SPORTZ.

ADMISSION

  • Admission will be handled through GoFan. A QR code will be provided at the meet.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

  • Each team is required to provide six (6) parent volunteers.
    • Please reach out to Lauren Thomas if you can volunteer. As we have shifted Saturday to Friday we will need all volunteers to re-confirm.
  • Additional timing help may be needed.
  • Volunteers receive free entry.

HEAT SHEETS

  • Heat sheet access (QR code/link) will be provided prior to the meet. I will send one out to the team once I have a copy.

Thank you for your flexibility and support as we navigate these changes. This is a meaningful championship meet for our athletes, especially our seniors, and we are proud to represent Lambert together as one team.

Go Horns
