2026 GHSA State Championships: Information for 6A Athletes and Parents

Parents and Athletes,

Congratulations on your athletes making the Lambert Championship team! I am so proud of each of our athletes and the hard work they have put in to reach this level.

I am sorry in advance for the massive email ahead! Please read the whole thing carefully as much of the information comes directly from Ga Tech.

Before you review the detailed meet information from GHSA below, I have a few important housekeeping notes:

  • State Practices:
    • Swimmers
      • Monday - Thursday 8:00 - 9:00 pm @ Cumming Aquatic Center.
        • Club Swimmers may attend their club practices
      • Relay Practice (Mandatory) Wednesday Feb 4th 8:00-9:00pm
    • Divers
      • Thursday 9:00-10:00 PM @ Cumming Aquatic Center
  • Attendance & Transportation: Swimmers are expected to attend both February 6th and February 7th, so please clear your calendars for the entire weekend. To ensure athlete safety and coordination in downtown Atlanta, no early releases or riding with parents will be permitted; all athletes must travel with the team both days.
  • Departure: Buses will depart from Lambert in the morning on both February 6th and February 7th. Exact departure times are TBD, as we are waiting for our school-specific arrival window from the GHSA. We expect to have these finalized times sent to us by February 1st.

I sent the following message to the athletes on Monday, but I wanted to ensure parents were also in the loop:"

Athlete Message Sent via Groupme

"Hey all, happy Monday!

Congrats on making GHSA State this year. For those of you who are first-time qualifiers, I wanted to give you an update on how entries work:

We are permitted to enter 4 athletes per individual event. This means if 10 people qualified for the 50 Free, only the fastest 4 will compete in the Championship. However, even if you are not in the top 4 of your event, you are a vital part of this team—you will receive all the state gear and will travel with us to Georgia Tech to support the squad! :)

II. Building Entry and Arrival Procedures for Swimmer Spectators

  • Spectator Entry: The front (Ferst Drive) entrance will be for SPECTATORS ONLY.
  • Admission: General admission ticket prices are $20 per session. We encourage you to visit GoFan Tickets to purchase them in advance at https://gofan.co/app/school/GHSA. We are in the 6A group so be sure to buy the correct ticket. Gates will open for spectators approximately 90 minutes before the start of each session.
  • Security Screening: New for 2026 - Georgia Tech now requires all spectators to go through security screening to enter the Campus Recreation Center. This includes metal detectors and bag screenings. The less you bring into the CRC, the sooner you will likely get into the building. This policy is for spectators ONLY.
  • Seating: GT has asked us to share that saving of seats is not allowed, only a body can save a seat.
  • Swimmers need to Arrive Attired: Locker facilities are limited, we request that swimmers and divers arrive in their suits (under their clothes or warmups) to limit the need for locker room usage.

III. Parking and Transportation

For Swimming at Georgia Tech:

  • Personal Vehicles: Prepaid parking for all personal vehicles and SUV’s can be done in the W10 lot, directly adjacent to the CRC. Prepaid parking will be available at https://gatech.parkmobile.io/events. Vehicles may NOT pay at arrival in the prepaid lots, those vehicles will have to park in the Day of Parking lots located farther from the pool in the W23 lot on State St.

For Diving at Marist:

  • Diving Parking: Parking for Diving ONLY is free of charge at Marist. Parking is available for teams and spectators at the lot adjacent to Centennial Gymnasium. Larger busses should drop off their teams and can wait at the nearby shopping centers along Ashford Dunwoody Rd.

IV. Venue Rules and Conduct for Swim & Dive

  • Photography: Flash photography in the spectator area is not allowed. New NFHS/Safe Sport rules prohibit ANY photography (including a cell phone) directly behind the blocks. All reservations for action photography must be made in advance online at riveroakphotography.com/reserve-online/ghsa/.
  • Prohibited Items: Spectator and Athletes are NOT ALLOWED to bring large coolers, tents, grills, or flat screen televisions into the facility. Smaller coolers or bags that fit underneath one of the seats in the stands are permitted.

V. Fees, Merchandise, and Volunteers at GA Tech

  • Merchandise: PepWear will be on site with official championship apparel. Merchandise will be available on the spectator level of the pool in the classrooms across from concessions.
  • Volunteers: For more information and to sign up to volunteer please visit https://ghsaswim.swimtopia.com/. Volunteers receive free admission for the session(s) they work.

Thank you for taking the time to read this extremely long email. Please reach out if you have any questions!
